WHAT IS LIP BLUSH?
Lip blush is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattooing treatment for clients who wish to enhance their natural lip shape/colour. Colours are fully customized to each client leaving you with fuller looking lips that have a slight tint of colour that does not wipe off. Healing time is approximately 5-7 days, longevity is 1-2 years, ultimately dependant on how your skin holds pigment. Two to three appointments are needed to reach full results.
WHY DO LIP BLUSH?
This permanent makeup treatment will perfectly define your lip and give you a very subtle pop of colour so you can live each day looking fresh and lively.

CUSTOMIZABLE COLOUR
Every session begins with an in-depth colour consultation. We will assess your natural skin tone and see which pigment best suits you. Whether it be warm, cool, pink, red or neutral all pigment will fade by around 70%. The end result will always be a soft blush, barely noticeable to others, yet perfectly pigmented to give your lips a nice soft pop of colour.
APPLICATION, HEALING, LONGEVITY
The application process is roughly 60 minutes, the full appointment time is 2 hours. The healing process is usually 5-7 days long. The longevity of the lip blush ultimately depends on your skin type and how well you hold onto pigment. Average longevity is 1-2 years. If you are looking for a deeper colour and choose to do 3-4 sessions you can expect the colour to last 2-3 years.
NATURAL LIP BLUSH vs VIVID LIP BLUSH
NATURAL LIP BLUSH
Natural Lip Blush matches your current lip colour as closely as possible. Choosing to do Lip Blush in your natural lip colour will ensure that the Lip Blush is nearly undetectable while also providing you an even colour, density and nicely defined outline.
VIVID LIP BLUSH
Vivid Lip Blush is for those who intentionally want a pop of colour on their lips. While all Lip Blush colour will fade by 50-70% of its original density, closing a vivid colour will ensure you get a slight red or slight pink colouring when your lips are healed.
* We do not offer Neutralization at this time *

YOU ARE NOT A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR LIP BLUSH IF …
You are not a good candidate for lip blush if you are undergoing any treatment, medication or illness that compromises the immune system (and therefore the healing process.) This could include, but is not limited to:
Pregnant or breastfeeding (must wait 6 months after you stop nursing)
History of keloids or hypertrophic scarring
Taking blood thinning medication (unless it can be paused 5 days prior)
Hepatitis B/C
Currently sick with cold/flu/viral infection (rest, get better, reschedule)
Have uncontrolled high blood pressure
You are currently tanned, sunburned or have a skin rash (postpone until it is gone)
You will need a doctors clearance if you have/are:
Diabetic
Autoimmune disorder
Recently completed chemotherapy
Epileptic
Have a pacemaker
BEFORE YOUR LIP BLUSH APPOINTMENT * PRE-LIP BLUSH PREP
If you have EVER had a cold sore on (or around) your lips, you MUST take a prescription antiviral (e.g. Valtrex or a similar) at least 3 days prior and 3 days after getting your lips tattooed. If you don’t, this procedure will trigger a coldsore outbreak that will affect healing. If you have been on prescription Accutane in the past, you MUST wait at least 1 year before considering this procedure.
The Day Of Your Appointment:
Gently exfoliate your lips in the morning with a sugar scrub
Make sure your lips are well moisturized.. Dry, cracked lips won’t tattoo or heal nicely
Do not consume any caffeine (coffee, tea, Coke, Diet Coke etc.)
24-48 Hours Before Please Discontinue:
Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve (Tylenol is OK)
Alcohol
One Week Before Please Discontinue:
Specific RX Meds
Blood thinners should be stopped 5 days prior as they will increase bleeding during the procedure. Results will be jeopardized if there is excess bleeding due to these things. If you are bleeding the pigment can not implant properly
Fish oils / Omega 3's
Vitamin E in high doses
Harsh exfoliators, creams containing Glycolic Acid, Retin-A, Renova, and Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHAs) at least 72 hours before the procedure
30 Days Before Please Discontinue:
Chemical peels and laser treatments within 4 weeks of the procedure
Tanning (we cannot work on sun-damaged or burned lips)
Due to lip blush being a form of semi-permanent tattooing, you must allow 6-8 weeks for full healing. Therefore, ensure that you book your procedure with all special events/vacations in mind. Feel free to bring a photo of a lip color you love or even your favourite lip stick or tinted lip gloss.
AFTER YOUR LIP BLUSH APPOINTMENT * POST-LIP BLUSH CARE
Keep the lips moisturized with our recommended balm only (no Neosporin, Vaseline, etc).
Refrain from soaking your lips in water for a week and from applying makeup to them.
Refrain from using saunas and swimming pools, sweating excessively and sunbathing for 5 days.
Do not peel any dry skin/scabs.
Do not eat spicy, salty or acidic foods or drink hot liquids for 48 hours after your procedure.
Do not bleach or whiten your teeth until your lips are healed.
Do not excessively stretch lips while they are healing with big smiles or pucker lips with smoking.
AFTER YOUR LIP BLUSH APPOINTMENT * HEALING TIMELINE EXPECTATIONS
Day 1 (Right after the procedure): Lips appear bold and brighter no matter if you chose a natural or vivid shade.. It will heal between 50-70% lighter and softer. Lips will be slightly swollen and tender. Color will darken (oxidize) as the day goes on. Do not freak out.
Day 2: Lips are darker and may still be a little swollen. Lips are feeling tight and dry. Keep them moisturized.
Days 3-4: Skin is flaking and scabbing and the colour is fading. Do not pick the scabs.
Days 5-6: Lips start to feel normal and the flaking is gone.
Day 7: Lips have completely healed but the color is much lighter than after the procedure. Just wait.
Day 28-42 : The color has come back! There may be some uneven spots/patchiness. We will fix this in your touchup appointment. You always need a touchup, even if you love your lips right now. After the first appointment there is simply not enough pigment left in the lips to give you the 1-2 year longevity. Book your touch anywhere from 6-12 weeks after your first appointment.
LIP BLUSH FAQ
What is the Lip Blush process like?
The process is very simple. You come into the studio, show me any inspiration photos or lipstick/lipgloss colours that you like and then we get to work! Your lips will be numbed, we will spend quite a bit of time on colour matching the perfect shade for you, then we discuss lip shape and define an outline, then the tattoo begins.
How long does it take?
The entire appointment is anywhere from 2-3 hours. This includes time for sanitization, set up, consultation, tattooing, and after-care instructions. The actual tattoo procedure only lasts about 60 minutes, depending how well your skin accepts the pigment.
Does it hurt?
Nope! You may feel a tiny bit of spice at the very beginning while we do the outline, but other than that you will be pain-free. We use the best numbing solutions to ensure you are comfortable. It does feel a little ‘weird’ having a small tattoo machine so close to your face, but other than that it is an easy experience.
The colour looks SO bright/dense right away… this fades, right?
Yes. The colour density will fade anywhere from 50-70% lighter than the density you see directly after the procedure. The colour tones will remain the same, so the colour itself doesn’t change, but the density of the colour does. Imagine a dark red vs a pastel red. Right away the lips look like a dark red, but they heal to a pastel red.
